Telemedicine visits are still up compared to pre-COVID rates, but surprisingly, younger, more tech-savvy adults aren’t the top users. Pediatric and adult patients aged 18 to 64 adopted telemedicine at virtually identical rates throughout the pandemic. However, seniors aged 65 and older are utilizing telehealth at significantly higher rates, likely due in part to COVID-19 risk factors associated with age.
While telemedicine visits are still up for pediatric patients, office visits for this patient cohort have significantly declined over the last six months, with prescription rates amongst pediatric populations also 20% or more below 2019 levels. Our latest COVID-19 Trend Insights report takes a closer look at these trends and more.
